It is with great delight that I welcome all stakeholders to the Nigeria Manufacturing Equipment (NME) Expo and Manufacturing Partnership and Development (mPAD). This is the second edition of what has become an annual international event, showcasing machinery and equipment as well as creating a forum for articulating the roadmap for deepening the development of manufacturing in Nigeria.

I would like to express my sincere appreciation to His Excellency, President Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR for the focus on the diversificarion of the Nigerian economy as well as the Administration’s policy on resource-based industrialisation.

I am delighted to welcome the Hon. Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Dr. Okechukwu Enelamah, as well as the Hon. Minister of State of the Ministry, Hajia Aisha Abubakar to this event and for being friends of the Association.

I have the pleasure to welcome other very important dignitaries present here. I recognize the presence of officials of the Raw Materials Research and Decelopment Council (RMRDC), Standards Organisation of Nigeria, Bank of Industry and others.  I also welcome members of the Press who have partnered with us throughout the journey to the climax of this event.

This Expo and mPAD is in tandem with the objectives of the Federal Government as they were conceived to boost the technological base of the Nigerian manufacturing sector. We may be aware that one of the major problems of manufacturers is the continued use of obsolete machinery and equipment. This impedes the efficiency of manufacturers, especially Small and Medium-scale ones, as it slows down production, inhibits efficiency and economy of scale. The Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN) through this annual international event has, therefore, taken the challenge of leading the sector to play its key role in the new vision of our nation with the belief that Nigeria has the potential to become one of the leading industrialised economies in the world.

Distinguished ladies and gentlemen, this event therefore provides a veritable opportunity for SMEs to learn new processes on how to boost their production output, reduce cost, improve product quality and manufacture for new markets.

This year’s edition is remarkable because it is designed to run simultaneously with    the Nigeria Raw Materials (NIRAM) Expo.  The infusion of the NIRAM Expo into the Nigeria Manufacturing Equipment (NME) Expo would afford exhibitors and visitors a rare opportunity of exposure to the entire manufacturing value chain, which would include machinery, equipment, financial services, professional consultancy and information on raw materials sourcing.

Let me seize this opportunity to assure foreign exhibitors, our partners and other stakeholders that MAN members are prepared to extend their hands of fellowship to investors who may wish to establish businesses in Nigeria or partner with our members.

Once again, I wish to thank the Government of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, stakeholders from both the public and private sectors, our friends from other countries who chose Nigeria as the best option for investment as well as our partners in this project - Clarion Event West Africa Limited and Raw Materials Research and Development Council - for their efforts in making this project a reality.

Finally, I thank my esteemed members of the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria for their untiring loyalty and belief in the cause of the Association. Together we shall achieve our desire to make Nigeria a foremost industrialized nation.

Distinguished ladies and gentlemen, permit me to declare open this event, to the glory of   God Almighty and for the progress of our dear country, Nigeria.

Thank you all and God bless Nigeria.
